LE MONT SAINT MICHEL

The Mont Saint-Michel’s name comes from the rocky island dedicated to Saint Michael upon which the abbey of the Mont-Saint-Michel rises. Home to a very important place of interest and UNESCO world heritage with its bay, it attracts more than three million visitors a year. Its abbey, its museums and its church are worth a visit.

AOC (PROTECTED DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN) MUSSEL FARMING AND OYSTER FARMING

Mussel and oyster farming and breeding are two sea activities which have been developed in small villages around the Bay of the Mont Saint-Michel. These products are worldwide famous and known for their exceptional quality. DOL DE BRETAGNE

Just North of the Ille-et-Vilaine department and close to the bay of the Mont Saint-Michel, the city of Dol de Bretagne with its 5 500 inhabitants lays at equal distance (25 km) between St Malo and the Mont Saint-Michel, also called the "Marvel of the West".

The impressive cathedral St Samson, built in the XIIth and XIIIth centuries, reminds us of the prestigious past of this religious metropolis : it was archbishopric for three centuries. More than 70 bishops succeeded one another until the French Revolution. Thanks to its religious, military (with the Northern and Southern walls around the city) and civilian heritage, Dol de Bretagne counts many places of interest like the numerous houses with timber framings of which the house of Plaids, identified as the most ancient house of Brittany, making Dol de Bretagne one of the favorite destinations of tourists.

SAINT-MALO

Corsair city, capital of the sea, jewel of the Emerald coast, whatever the adjectives given to Saint-Malo, the city has always been, throughout its history, the starting point of all adventures and dreams …

The city occupies a place of privilege in Brittany. Located in the Northern part of the Ille-et-Vilaine department, close to Normandy and a cable stone away from the Mont Saint-Michel, Saint-Malo is also a springboard towards the Channel Islands and England.

A place of history and legends, cradle of famous characters, the city managed to retain its authenticity with its enclosure walls, pavements and old stones, in spite of dark hours.

COMBOURG

Thanks to its geographical situation and nestled between Rennes, Saint-Malo, Ferns and Dinan, Combourg has always been a place of exchanges, trades and meetings. Built before the XIth century to protect the duchy of Brittany, the Small Town of Character can still be proud of its beautiful buildings which have witnessed its history. Snuggled up in the heart of a protected nature, Combourg has obtained the rural resort label.

In 1761, the county of Combourg became the property of the father of François-René de Chateaubriand; the work and the personality of the famous writer cannot be dissociated from his youth which he spent in the austere setting of the medieval fortress.
